E N K U N D L E N I /gathering healing
Water, in its silent wisdom, has always known how to co-create, to transform, to respond to the touch of those who seek its guidance. Culture teaches us that water, in its purest form, can be shaped by ritual and intention. It absorbs energies and responds, shifting in shape and essence through a kind of cosmic conversation. In this way, water becomes a bridge, weaving together the spiritual and the physical, the seen and the unseen. It holds within it the memory of ancient rites—echoes of our ancestors who understood that water could cleanse not just the body but the soul, the home, and even entire communities.
In the installation and performance of ‘E N K U N D L E N I /gathering healing’, water emerges as an embodied space—a fluid, living entity that artists carry and share wherever they go. This space is intimate, a vessel for expression, where pain, healing, and love intermingle. Here, we remember that our stories are not solitary; they are threads in a larger tapestry of shared struggle and triumph. Our creative process reflects this interconnectedness, embracing collaboration not just between us as artists, but with the people, places, and communities we engage with. Water, in its act of cleansing, becomes more than just a ritual; it becomes a passage to renewal, balancing the community with its power to purify both the spirit and the flesh. Its transformations—from liquid to ice, from mist to rain—mirror our own inner journeys, a reflection of how we change and grow.
In our artistic practice and research, water is more than an element; it is a dwelling place for spirits, a sanctuary where energies flow freely, where healing begins. It serves as both a metaphor and a literal realm where the spiritual and physical merge, offering a space for reflection, for seeking out who we are. Its fluid nature allows emotions to rise and fall, just as tides do, guiding us toward a deeper understanding of ourselves and our place in the world. By focusing on water, we acknowledge the lived experiences that highlight the importance of origin—the source from which all life flows.
In the end, water teaches us that everything is interconnected, fluid, and cyclical. As it journeys from rivers to oceans and into the sky, so too do we travel through our own cycles of growth and return. In the stillness of water, we find reflection; in its movement, we discover transformation. And through it all, water reminds us that we are part of something greater—a vast, flowing continuum of life that stretches across time and space, connecting us to the past, to each other, and to the infinite possibilities of the future.
